Outbound Sales...

Bill has been in sales for the greater part of his over 30 year career and has worked with companies ranging from small retailers to large corporations. He knows what it's like to be in the sales trenches, face rejection and what it takes to turn prospects into customers and reach sales goals. He has interviewed hired, trained, coached and managed sales staffs and has developed and implemented sales strategies and strategic action plans.

Concentrating on the media side, Bill has sold advertising for newspapers, radio, cable, magazines and television programs, along with direct mail, consumer exhibit space and sponsorships. He is experienced in selling multiple platforms and has designed multi-market co-op advertising programs. He has worked with agencies, associations, buying groups and knows how to sell to the C-Level.

Through his writing for Selling Power magazine and other publications, Bill has been blessed with the opportunity to interview and learn from some of the best and the brightest sales experts in the business, along with hundreds of salespeople and sales managers across different industries.

On the Retail Side...

Bill has worked for and with retailers and has first-hand knowledge of the challenges they face. Also, as a contributor and columnist for a number of retail B-2-B publications including SHOT Business, Shooting Sports Retailer, Fishing Tackle Retailer, Store Magazine and others, Bill has gained a deep understanding of retailing and what it takes to run a successful operation.

Presentation Skills...

Bill has conducted educational seminars and presentations on topics including advertising, promotion and retail sales for organizations such as the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the Michigan Retail Association, the National Association of Consumer Shows and the National Association of Firearm Retailers.

Advertising Strategy and Buying...

Bill has been on both sides of the advertising fence, having not only sold advertising but planning and executing media strategies and buys. He knows the ins- and outs of media analysis, advertising placement and how to effectively work with media representatives to create "win-win" outcomes, including publicity.

Leadership Experience...

In addition to running his own consulting business, Bill has held management positions in a number of companies, including being a magazine publisher and executive director of two non-profit state-wide associations. He is experienced in working with internal and external publics, knows the dynamics of the board room and how to build teams and generate buy-in.
